Department of Library and Information Center

The Ramaiah Institute of Business Studies, Library and Information Centreserves the information needs of its users. It primarily holds books related to Management, Commerce, Arts, and Computer Science subjects. The library boasts a collection of 6,042 volumes across 611 titles, including 642 reference books, 160 donated books, and general books, including Kannada and English novels. To streamline administrative tasks, the library has implemented Libsoft 12.0.0 Library Automation, which simplifies book browsing, reservations, and borrowing processes.

The Library and Information Centre spared   a total carpet area of 156.81 sqm, accommodates more than120 students simultaneously for reading. Additionally, it boasts CCTV cameras for enhanced security.Library is committed to continual improvement for its users

Library and Information Centreserve the information needs of faculty and students. They collect books, journals, e-services, and institutional repositories. Library aims to promote the best use of materials by providing internet services and advancing health information provision through modern technology. Libraries identify user problems and motivations to enhance their services.

 

1. Admission without an identity card is not permitted.
2. Students can borrow up to two books at a time for a duration of 15 days.
3. Borrowed books must be returned on or before the due date; otherwise, a fine of Rs. 5 per day will apply.
4. Books in high demand may be renewed only twice.
5. These materials, such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks, are meant for quick information and research. However, they stay within the library and cannot be checked out. Their availability ensures that users can access them when needed1.
6. Members are responsible for books issued against their library tickets. If you borrow a book, make sure to return it on time to avoid overdue charges.
7. Readers are not allowed to bring personal books, printed materials, or other belongings (like bags and umbrellas) into the library. These items should be kept at the Property Counter at your own risk.
8. It’s advisable not to leave valuable items (such as money, passport, or credit cards) at the Property Counter.
9. Readers should refrain from writing in, marking, or damaging library books and furniture.
10. The library has the right to recall any issued book, even before the due

DO’S
  • Sign the register kept at the check point, while entering the library.
  • Show the documents which are being taken out of the library, to the staff at the check point.
  • Contact the staff on duty / section staff for any queries.
  • Keep the Library premises tidy.
DON’TS
  • Waste more time to locate the documents. If you experience any difficulty in locating the required material, Please contact the Library staff/Librarian.
  • Replace the material the library staff will do it for you.(Please remember the document misplaced is document lost).
  • Move books/journals from its specific area to another area.
  • Write in a book/journal unless it is your cheque book.
  • Give borrowers cards to others.
  • Students are required to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil; writing or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case, reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.
